Acording to TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice 2011 Algarve has 3 beaches of the top 25 beaches in Europe. Albufeira, Alvor and Lagos are among the preferred beaches for tourists and editors.

The choices made reflect the views of users of TripAdvisor where the Travellers’ Choice Awards named the 25 best beaches in Europe, a list dominated by Mediterranean beaches and led by the resort town of Ayia Napa in Cyprus.
All the Portuguese beaches represented in the “top 25” are from the Algarve coast. “Amazing cliffs of various shades” (Albufeira), “reserved bays” (Alvor) and a “succession of beautiful coastal beaches” (Lagos) enchanted tourists from around the world.
